Tot School Tuesday: Liberty Bell and American Bald Eagle

As I have mentioned before, at the end of each Little Hands to Heaven Unit we have an American History Day.  I use the Little Hands Celebrate America book by Jill Frankel Hauser as a guide.  Here is a summary of our last two history days:

LIBERTY BELL:
Craft: Liberty Bells made from a plastic cup, aluminum foil, a toilet paper roll, and some glue.

Science:  In addition to learning about the history of the Liberty Bell, we also focused on the science of sound (and how the vibrations made the crack in the bell).  We tied several objects to string and would bang them with a metal spoon while holding the ends of the string in our ears.  We would also listen to the same sound without putting the string in our ears.

AMERICAN BALD EAGLE:
Craft: Handprint Bald Eagles (found idea on Pinterest)

Math: Counting with Feathers
I had this on our shelves the previous week, only using popsicle sticks.  I replaced the sticks with feathers and color coded them to make it easier for "Boo".

Coloring: Found a bald eagle to color from our Arkansas Birds Coloring Book.

Printables:
I pulled out several of the printables from Homeschool Creations' Birds Preschool Pack.  I had used these last summer in our Bird Unit (week 1 and week 2)
